This past week, 250 Allston and Brighton residents and program providers attended a community barbecue hosted and coordinated by Charlesview Residences – a 240-unit apartment community in Brighton managed by full-service real estate firm Peabody Properties, Inc. The event welcomed local organizations including Friendship Works, Family Nurturing Center, a representative from Boston City Councilor Mark Ciommo’s office, Peabody Resident Services, Inc. Home Care, and the Boston Police D-14 Community Service officer.
The event also marked the kick-off of two fall mentoring programs for Allston-Brighton youth. The Strong Women Strong Girls (SWSG) program will offer support for adolescent girls in grades 3 – 5, and the DREAM Program’s Boston University student mentors will provide one-on-one mentoring for youth ages 8 – 12, assisting them in staying on track for college.
“Our second annual BBQ at the new Charlesview Residences was a rewarding reminder of how we have become an integral part of our Allston/Brighton neighborhood,” said Jo-Ann Barbour, Executive Director of Charlesview, Inc. “We were pleased to welcome so many of our residents, neighbors, and partners and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the community.”
Event attendees also enjoyed games in the park, face painting, and ice cream facilitated by MassHousing’s TAP Program Acme Teamwork.
