In honor of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, residents of Market Mill Apartments – a 230-unit apartment community in Lowell managed by full-service real estate firm Peabody Properties, Inc. – recently paused in reflection, remembrance and appreciation, to draft as many as 35 letters and drawings for our troops from Massachusetts serving overseas.
The project was organized in partnership with Community Teamwork, Inc.’s Senior Corps Program – a program that pairs hundreds of Senior Volunteers with local non-profits and with hundreds of children and seniors in the community, funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service – to provide American soldiers with support and friendly reminders of home while they are stationed overseas.
The letters and drawings were delivered to the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund of Boston, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to the families of military personnel with ties to Massachusetts, who have died as a result of active duty service post-9/11/2001. The contributions of the Market Mill residents were included in as many as five hundred care packages assembled on the Rose Kennedy Greenway on September 11th and sent to our dedicated troops serving overseas.
