Charlestown Residents Celebrate Conclusion of Annual Irish Step Dance Program

Youth residents of Mishawum Park – a 337-unit residential community located on Main Street in Charlestown – recently celebrated the conclusion of the property’s annual Irish Step Dance Program with a festive, winter performance and a special reception.

Now in its seventh year, the Irish Step Dance Program was taught by Roseann Woods-McKenna, a Professional Dance Instructor at the Woods School of Irish Dance. The program was funded by the Mishawum Park Tenants Association. For 25 consecutive weeks, as many as 15 young residents, ages 5 through 17, learned new step dancing skills and techniques, which they put to the test during a final performance for friends and family.

According to Kelly Tucker, Chair of the Mishawum Park Tenant’s Association, the Irish Step Dance Program is one of the most successful youth programs at Mishawum Park. “It’s wonderful to see such a diverse group of children come together and have fun,” said Tucker. “The program provides a great opportunity for socialization, boosts morale and helps to build comradery.”

Mishawum Park is managed by full-service real estate firm, Peabody Properties, Inc. and owned by nonprofit entity, Mishawum Park Tenants Association.
