Firm Among the First in Massachusetts Awarded Health and Wellness Funding

Braintree, MA (November 18, 2016) – Full-service real estate firm Peabody Properties, Inc. today announced that it has received a $10,000 grant from Health Resources in Action – a leader in developing programs that advance public health and medical research – to assist in improving worksite wellness.

After completing a companywide survey, Peabody Properties developed a workplace wellness action plan that focused on promoting physical activity, providing educational programs and materials, initiating policy changes to engage employees and identify partner organizations that would provide opportunities for on-site physical activity including Inner City Weight Lifting and Walkingspree. One of the first companies in Massachusetts to utilize the Health Resources in Action grant, the firm recently formed a committee to implement employee health and wellness programs and plans to match the grant with an additional $10,000.

Peabody Properties, with grant support, provides an Inner City Weight Lifting Lunch Crunch Program – a 45 minute workout – and plans to add other activities including yoga and spinning. Additional wellness programs include weight loss challenges, healthy recipe contests and participation in organized community walks. To encourage a commitment to the program, employees receive gift cards in recognition of their participation.

“This marks the beginning of a long standing commitment to workplace wellness throughout the Peabody Properties community,” said Morgan McDonagh, co-chair of the company’s Wellness Committee. “This initiative will benefit our entire team in ways that are real and measurable.”
